We all have busy lives. I pray that you will find this small spiritual investment to be worthwhile as you watch God use the 12 verses each year in your life. The best way to use this group is to form your own group of family or friends on or offline, at work, at school, at church, or in the neighborhood who will join you in committing to memorize the verse each month and will encourage each other to stay close to Jesus and to grow spiritually. The 5 verses that year were JOHN 3:16; ROMANS 8:28; HEBREWS 4:12; JEREMIAH 29:11; PHILIPPIANS 4:8 The January verse of the month to kick off 2009 was ROMANS 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. The February Verse of the Month was JEREMIAH 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. The March verse of the month was 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! The April Verse of the Month was COLOSSIANS 3:12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humily, gentleness and patience. The May Verse of the Month was JOHN 1:14 The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. The June verse of the month was JOSHUA 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. July was a verse of rest and review. The August verse of the month was 2 Timothy 1:7 "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline." The September verse of the month was PSALM 116:12 How can I repay the LORD for all his goodness to me? The October verse of the month was LUKE 11:28 He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it." The November verse of the Month was 1 CORINTHIANS 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man; and God is faithful. He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear; but when you are tempted he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. The December verse of the Month to close out 2009 is ROMANS 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will. The January verse of the Month to kick off 2010 is up to you.
